East Coast gal Alison Stern transplanted to Boulder, Colorado, in 1997 after a brief but obviously impressive visit. Formerly a travel book editor in New York City, she wanted a different pace for herself and her family, one that would allow all to thrive, grow, experience, and soak in life in real time instead of at warp speed. In 2001 Alison realized the therapeutic value of working with her hands and with nature's gifts, and so, Alison Blair Studio was born.
Alison's artistic inspiration for natural necklaces comes from Boulder's Flatiron Mountains and their ever-changing moods and colors. With a delicate ecosystem, but stately presence, the mountains represent strength in simplicity and the power of nature's visual and physical rhythms. Keeping these images in mind, Alison has created her layering necklace designs using semi-precious stones, raw-cut diamond beads and sapphires, African trade beads, and nature's own glorious colors and combinations.
A self-trained jeweler, Alison has perfected her skills through relentless work, in conjunction with her ability to tune into her customers' needs and hearing what they most appreciate about her designs.
